Chairperson

Eng. Rweyemamu is a seasoned Mining Engineer with vast experience in operations and closure of mines. He started off his career in Diamond Industry of De Beers operations in Tanzania and later seconded to South Africa and Botswana. He later joined Barrick operations in Tanzania and worked in North Mara Mine, Head Office, Tulawaka Mine as well as Buzwagi. While at ABG Head office, he was tasked with overseeing the Transformation of Artisanal Mining into Small Scale Mining Project with emphasis of coexistence between LSM and ASM. He was later assigned Government Relations duties. Currently, he works for Shanta Mining Company Limited as the General Manager for Singida Project

Vice Chairperson

Mr. Damien Valente is the General Manager - Africa for Orecorp Tanzania Limited, who are currently developing the Nyanzaga Gold Project in Sengerema district, Mwanza. Mr. Valente has 20 years’ experience of working across continents in mining, energy, manufacturing, equipment distribution and financial services.

Honorary Secretary

Mr. Frederick Kibodya has over 20 years experience in the extractive sector having worked for Oil and Gas prior to joining the Mining Industry in 2015. He is currently the Managing Director of Mantra Tanzania Limited, a company that operates the Mkuju Uranium Project in Namtumbo district, Ruvuma Region.

Honorary Treasurer

Mr. Godvictor Lyimo, Tax Manager with Geita Gold Mining Limited will continue with his role as Honorary Treasurer of the Chamber. Mr. Lyimo is a Certified Public Accountant in Public Practice and a Registered Tax Consultant with a long experience in financial audits – having previously worked as an External Auditor; and with extensive experience in Mining Taxation. CPA Lyimo has a combined Accounting and Extractive Taxation experience spreading over 15 years.

Executive Secretary

Eng. Benjamin J. Mchwampaka is a seasoned Mining Engineer with more than 30 years of experience in the mining industry in Tanzania. His first employer was the Ministry of Minerals where he started as a junior mining engineer and he rose to become a Principal Mining Engineer and later was appointed as the Commissioner for Minerals in Tanzania. He was later transferred to the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) under the Vice President’s Office where he held various managerial positions before becoming the coordinator of a 7.4 million US$ project called Environmental Health and Pollution Management (GEF funded) that is responsible for reducing use of mercury in Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining in Tanzania, a position he held until compulsory retirement in December, 2021. He joined the Chamber in January, 2022.
